floating into February

2017 started out with some changes, some new additions and some happy surprises

Our exhibit at The Bradley Estate turned out wonderfully
Met many talented, inspiring people
Loved the sharing of ideas
(a portion of the exhibit will remain on display until Valentine’s Day)

I was contacted by a magazine editor
my photos and a short article will be published
in their May issue
Will share more details soon.

And last but certainly not least
we adopted this sweet boy

meet Mozart
(yes, he is a genius)

All was good
until it wasn’t
and the world began to crumble
you already know the story
it’s everywhere
so much so, I’ve had to distance myself from social media in order to retain some sense of sanity.  I’ve never been comfortable sharing personal issues, religion or politics online, it has mainly been a platform to share photography and friendship.

I don’t live in a bubble. I read, I watch the news shows, I have lengthy discussions with my close friends and family members in the “real world”

And when I’m done with all of that, I go out with my camera. I climb on my raft..

“Art has always been the raft onto which we climb to save our sanity. I don’t see a different purpose for it now.”

― Dorothea Tanning

I float, if only for a few moments.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it.

~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes

If only I could have bottled up all that warm autumn light.  Yesterday I awoke to the first snow of the season.  A very different world out there now, a colder light, a quieter sort of beauty.

to say hello.

My house will soon be filled with family and friends as we get ready for our annual reunion and Independence Day celebration.  Crazy and a bit chaotic, but I will love every minute of it.

Busy with projects and thinking about the possibility of a new venture. I was recently contacted by the editor of an online magazine and invited to join their team as a regular contributor. Run out of NYC, this site features a cornucopia of topics from world news, tech and science, to lifestyle, entertainment and the arts…and of course, that includes photography. So, given that my mantra for 2016 is “just do!” I think I’m going to give it a go.

And speaking of “just do,” Carol MacGregor (Happy Gatherings Photography) and I finished up our shoot at the beautiful Bradley Estate in Canton, Massachusetts last week. We had gorgeous weather and what a treat it was to spend the day at this magnificent place…I didn’t want to leave. We are currently working on some editing and putting together some still life images. Hope to have a post up after the 4th of July.

Until then, here’s a little peek, as we were wrapping up the day.

A little dazed after hours of shooting, but happy.

Happy weekend, everyone and since I will not be able to post next week, I want to wish all those who celebrate, a safe and happy Independence Day!
