one of those days

This was one of those perfect New England days in late summer where the spirit of autumn takes a first stealing flight, like a spy, through the ripening country-side, and, with feigned sympathy for those who droop with August heat, puts her cool cloak of bracing air about leaf and flower and human shoulders.

~Sarah Orne Jewett

the odd uneven time

“August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.”
~ Sylvia Plath

the light in August

I’m suddenly struck by how quickly time is passing and here we are in the last few weeks of August already. With that in mind, I’ve decided to change things up around here. For the rest of the month, I will post a photo a day (excluding weekends). There may be some words, there may not be (sometimes I prefer to let the photo tell the story). I’m also shutting the comments off for this period but will resume regular posting in September. My thought is that we all want to enjoy what’s left of our summer…and August has some pretty incredible light.

 Go catch it!

There is a Light in Me

Whether in daytime or in nighttime
I always carry inside
a light.
In the middle of noise and turmoil
I carry silence.
I carry light and silence.

~ Anna Swir

something so calming about this poem, found HERE among many other wonderful words and images.

Seems these days we could all use a little light and silence.
