Andy is off to paradise this morning

spending ten days in Hawaii with his friends Bonnie and Ruth

staying with Ruth’s grandmother (Granny Miyamoto) in her house on the beach

looking forward to exploring Diamondhead and Pearl Harbor

surfing and spear fishing

and luaus!

I’m hoping he takes lots of photos

so I can share them with you.

27 years!

It was our wedding anniversary yesterday

we spent the afternoon and evening on the Boston Waterfront

It was a beautiful day to be by the harbor

we walked miles along the Harbor Walk

through Fort Point and along the channel

and explored the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway

enjoyed dinner on the pier

and made a stop at my favorite bakery

for the best scones and banana bread

which we saved for breakfast this morning

a joyous 25 years!

It started as a little music class housed in a local church.  It grew and grew and within a few years, with generous community support, they were able to purchase their own facility

Our community music school

where my son Andy enjoyed many violin lessons, coachings and concerts

Our home away from home

Last night, The Joy of Music Program celebrated it’s 25th anniversary

Students, teachers, and alumni participated in a beautiful concert

Ensembles, jazz groups and the Joy of Music Orchestra put on a fantastic show

It was a wonderful night to reconnect with friends

and celebrate the joy of music!

 a bee’s life

“Most people don’t have any idea about all the complicated life going on inside a hive. Bees have a secret life we don’t know anything about.”

~Sue Monk Kidd, “The Secret Life of Bees”

watched as the neighborhood kids peddled their bikes

our driveway has always been the perfect raceway

brought back images of my boys

scrambling on their bikes, scooters, skateboards

they are grown now

no more bandaging scraped knees

no more wiping away tears

no more reminders to wear their helmets

and to not ride past the mailbox!

yesterday was Mother’s Day

and it hit me that I’ve been a mom for almost 25 years

like the speed of those bike wheels

time really does fly
