The places we escape to, are often right here at home

I’ve been scarce here lately. Both of my sons came home for a visit and we enjoyed some much needed family time. And since it’s summer, like many of you, I have been spending a lot of time outdoors. In fact, most sunny mornings I take my laptop out on our deck and do all my photo editing. I now have a new little assistant..

taking a snack break..

Meet Cheeky…she works for peanuts
and sunflower seeds.

and thanks to my sons, Cheeky is enjoying the good life..

“We goin’ ridin’ on the freeway of love
Wind’s against our back
We goin’ ridin’ on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac”

Looking forward to catching up with everyone this week.

  1. It’s a chance to domesticate a cute squirrel !!! he is adorable and playful too !! Congratulations a beautiful series of pictures

  2. All great shots, Susan. I love that first one with the Panama hat on the chair in the garden and the radishes and cheeky eating peanuts before driving away in his pink Cadillac!

  3. Your summer images are beautiful, Susan! I especially like the first one, with the hat. Cheeky in the pink cadillac is too funny! Looks like you’ve got a new pet.

  4. You are so wise to take advantage of summer and family…a very good combination…I to, love editing on the deck…but I need a Cheeky…yours is so cute…as a matter of fact, all of your summer photo’s are beautiful…every one of them…
Enjoy your time. It passes so quickly and before you know it we’ll be complaining about the snow and cold again…xo

  5. Thanks for making me laugh with that last one! I love the fuzz on the flower and the soft look on the one with the radishes. It makes me think of The Grapes of Wrath for some reason. Have fun and watch out for those chipmunk drivers!

  6. Such happy summer pictures! I love your new assistant. When he comes to work in his shiny car, he can conveniently park right next to his work.

  7. Wow, totally silly, that chippy in the car! Essence of summer, the berries and lavender, the radishes (perfect – you do hands so well!) and Black-eyed Susan. It’s so much fun to have chipmunks nearby. I have a lovely memory of a few days in a cabin on a lake in the Adirondacks, my son and his friend slowly taming the resident chipmunk – what a relief it was to get him away from video games and outdoors, and to see both of them enchanted by wildlife instead of TV.

  8. Stunning photographs, Susan. All of them! Cheeky is so cute. I bet he is lots of help. Wish I could convince our squirrels to do some weeding, but no luck so far. I have been absent a bit from my blog, too. Busy summer. I hope you had a wonderful time with your sons, I am sure you cherished every moment!
