dogwood dreams

Just before the green begins there is the hint of green
a blush of color, and the red buds thicken
the ends of the maple’s branches and everything
is poised before the start of a new world,
which is really the same world
just moving forward from bud
to flower to blossom to fruit
to harvest to sweet sleep, and the roots
await the next signal, every signal
every call a miracle and the switchboard
is lighting up and the operators are
standing by in the pledge drive we’ve
all been listening to: Go make the call.

Sometimes you get lucky and you discover that perfect poem…I read this on my friend Shawna’s Site and had to share it with you.

I made the call.

  1. That’s such a good poem! I can see the switchboard of summer lighting up already! 😀 And your photography as ever, so beautiful. They are almost like dreams of summer, vivid and colourful memories!! 🙂

  2. All beautiful images, but today my favourite is that gorgeous red bike with a basket full of yellow tulips and a gorgeous backdrop of weathered wood! Hope your having a lovely weekend!

  3. oh gosh, even though I saw some of these at Flickr, your blog does them much more justice. Beautiful. beautiful.

  4. Such beautiful blushes of color. I love the pink blossoms and the bike with the tulips. The colors are just starting to come out here and they’re pushing the gray away. Happy Spring!

  5. Go Make the Call. Perfect words.
And Susan … that red bike photo may just be one of my favorites of yours.

  6. My, my, so much beauty in one post…scrolling along I was loving each flower but then I hit the red bike and my heart leaped at the beauty and right behind it the red flowers, white fence….all breathtakingly beautiful. Very nice Susan
