“The lilac branches are bowed under the weight of the flowers: blooming is hard, and the most important thing is – to bloom.”

~ Yevgeny Zamiyatin

Cape Cod villages are filled with white picket fences and blooming lilacs, the streets are filled with their wonderful scent. I always associate lilacs with Memorial Day…I hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead!

I like lilac…we had an old tree which died, and two replacements never took, for whatever reason, very sad. Have a great weekend yourself 🙂

Ahhh, I can breathe in the scent… so lovely. Old Latvian tradition for luck if you find a blossom with five petals rather than the usual four! 🙂

Oh the lilac with raindrops – what amazing light there! My association – which goes way back to early childhood and is very strong – is lilacs and my birthday, about 2 wks before Memorial Day. Makes sense, I grew up a little south of you (in upstate NY, NJ and NYC) ! Gorgeous photo, really. I am envious of your light-filled way with a camera.
