smiling on

Fade away

Do thou smile like the rose at loss and gain;
For the rose, though its petals be torn asunder,
Still smiles on, and it is never cast down.
~ Rumi

I’m trying to keep a smile on my face
through a snowstorm today
apparently February does not
wish to be gentle on us!

  1. That’s so true about roses! I’ve seen them hanging on around here through the winter, looking like they’d never give up. Not this winter though. 🙂 I love your photo. It really shows the delicate strength of a rose.

  2. Such beautiful lighting on that rose on the wooden chair.
    This winter seems very snow-filled for many areas in the US and Canada this year. In Europe, we don’t seem to be getting winter… just a little fog, a fair amount of sun and quite a lot of rain, but not excessive where I live.
    Global warming is a reality.

  3. It was definitely quite a storm.
    But everything is so pretty out there right now.
    Now if it would just warm up a bit, so that we can get out there and enjoy it.

    This is such a beautiful photograph, Susan.

  4. Sorry to hear about your weather! This is a favorite image of mine. Love the way the sweep of light directs your eye right to the delicate rose. And so do the three lines behind it. Wonderful composition and mood. Get well soon, Susan!
