so long November

And every year there is a brief, startling moment
When we pause in the middle of a long walk home and
Suddenly feel something invisible and weightless
Touching our shoulders, sweeping down from the air:
It is the autumn wind pressing against our bodies;
It is the changing light of fall falling on us.
~ Edward Hirsch

on a clear and frosty Thanksgiving morning
bundled up in heavy layers
we took our traditional hike on the nearby lake trails.

  1. What a wonderful walk and beautiful lighting! I like that little red leaf at the end with the tiny heart-shape cut out against the sky! How lovely to live in such a beautiful area and countryside. Really nice lines by Edward Hirsch.

  2. I love that first photo and of course the dancing one! The bare tree branches do hold a certain beauty. We’ll still usually go walking in the woods on the weekends after making sure to bundle up. It’s always fun to see the effects of the changing seasons on each walk.
