still life

there's still life

there's still life ll

through time

one last reach

I found her in a pot on the patio
she was just starting to bloom
when the November cold swept in
but I saw that she was a fighter
so I brought her in
to live out her days
in the warmth of my kitchen
it was the least I could do

  1. oh I so truly love this.
And … still life has been playing a prominent role in my life these days in so many different ways. In fact, I just finished reading a novel titled Still Life as well. Beautiful, beautiful photos and just as beautiful is what you wrote

  2. How kind of you to rescue this poor little one from the cold. The shots you got out of it are worth it! We don’t have to worry about the overnight cold in San Diego for a month or two, I hope. I bought snapdragons a few weeks ago and I hope they survive the winter.

  3. You have such a gentle and delicate sensibility that comes across in your images. These are all wonderful. I particularly love the last one since there’s nothing like a paned window.

  4. Beautiful! I’ve brought a few in too but there are still lots of impatiens blooming out there. It’s inspiring to see them keep going like that.

  5. You have such a way with light. And though I am always looking at things differently, I don’t think I would have gone so far as to photograph this little, last bloom, because it’s so small, and the spider is already setting up shop. But the progression of images with the description are just wonderful, really! (But what I come back to again is the light. I want to know how.why the light in your photos tends to look so clean, bright and soft at the same time, very much like the old Dutch masters, but modern.)
