walking man

walking man

Moving in silent desperation
Keeping an eye on the holy land
A hypothetical destination
Say, who is this waliking man?

Well, the leaves have come to turning
And the goose has gone to fly
And bridges are for buning
So don’t you let that yearning
Pass you by
Walking man, walking man walks
Well, any other man stops and talks
But the walking man walks

~ James Taylor

he is 82

he walks our neighborhood every morning

through rain, sleet, snow and soaring summer heat

he’s our walking man

  1. We also had our walking man, he was 93, and used to walk around every morning as well. I met him regularly when walking my dog and we used to talk…then I didn’t see him. And I later heard he had reached his destination and now walks on a higher plane. But he was a wonderful “iron grandpa”.

    • What a wonderful story! My mom in law still walks everyday at 97…she does water aerobics too, god bless her! Let’s hope we are all as mobile at that age! I like that term “Iron grandpa”!

  2. Fabulous pairing of verse and image Susan…perfect! Strikes up fond memories of my father….he was a walking man! XO Robyn

  3. Very cool! My new neighbor moved in a couple of months ago but he seems to be walking every day too.

  4. Wonderful use of filter (I assume) and love your pick of lyrics. Great post, Susan.
