Licht Years

where are you going, where have you been?

our winter of discontent

As I’m sitting here going through some old photos
I can hear the wind howling outside
an Arctic blast of air is due to hit tonight
and it reminded me that it is indeed Winter in New England
however, I’m not going to complain
as we have had it pretty easy thus far
unlike the Winter of 2010/2011
when it seemed to snow just about every day
the snowbanks were so high
I could barely see out my windows

back to January 2011

winter of 2011

by the end of January
we were going stir crazy
so we came up with a remedy for cabin fever…

invite some friends over
for a cookout!

we spent all afternoon shoveling off the patio
then we added some colorful decorations and some candles

we feasted on roasted hot dogs and toasted marshmallows
and went through several bottles of wine
while listening to old Beach Boy tunes

I think we New Englanders know how to make the best of a situation

“Withstanding the cold develops vigor for the relaxing days of spring and summer. Besides, in this matter as in many others, it is evident that nature abhors a quitter.”

that fire looks very cozy, and it is obvious that everyone had a very good time. I actually envy you the snow.. our winter thus far, save for a few frosty days, has been foggy, rainy, and very damp..

What a wonderful idea, and definitely the remedy for cabin fever.
The cold has arrived here in NY also, and it sounds like it will get worse over the next few days before warming up to about 20.
Oh yes, 20 does seem warm right now. 🙂
Have a wonderful day, and stay warm!
    xo.
